With just over two weeks to the February 22nd deadline for the formation of a Revitalized Transitional Government of Transitional Unity, the Civil Society is concerned about the delays in enactment of pre-transitional legislations. The civil groups under the ‘Voluntary Civil Society Taskforce’ say the legislations, with the exception of the Constitutional Amendment Bill remain stuck at cabinet level, awaiting tabling before Parliament for ratification and incorporation into the transitional constitution.
A member of the taskforce, Rajab Mohandis says apparent attempts to delay the review of the five security laws and the political parties act demonstrate lack of political will and what he describes as ‘political games’ to frustrate the smooth implementation of the agreement.
