BIGGA President Colin Webber of Portmore and Vice President Gordon Moir

Episode 28,   Feb 05, 2020, 03:39 PM

We’re kicking off this week with a conversation that Curtis Tyrrell hosted on the Green Room Podcast Live stage. Curtis is director of agronomy at Desert Highlands in Arizona and the host of The Course Reports podcast. At BTME he had a great conversation with BIGGA’s newly elected president Colin Webber and its vice president Gordon Moir.

Colin Webber is a name that you may not be familiar with in greenkeeping circles, which is a shame because he’s one of the industry’s top guys. Living in North Devon, Colin used to be a farmer, but economic pressures led to him changing the farm into a golf centre and they haven’t looked back. Colin won’t mind me saying but he’s about as grassroots as they come.

Supporting Colin will be Gordon Moir, who spent the majority of his career right at the other end of the greenkeeping spectrum. Gordon is the former links superintendent at St Andrews, which needs no further introduction.

Both men chartered very different paths to get them to this point and Curtis had a fascinating conversation getting to know them both.
