SPLM-IO has welcomed president Salva Kiir’s decision to revert the country to 10 states.
The SPLM-IO senior member of the national constitutional amendment committee Nathaniel Oyet says government’s announcement on the ten states has been the recommendation of many stakeholders in the peace negotiations for the transitional period in South Sudan.
He said SPLM-IO are cognisant of the status of Abyei but have concerns on the status of Ruweng.

Mr Oyet said the issue of Ruweng will be table in the next round of talks but was quick to mention that it is not a difficult issue to resolve.
