3 Fundamental Things: ~1 min 20 sec

  • Will you do the job? - Cover Letter
  • Why do you want to do that job? - Cover Letter

CV is a Date Heavy Document
  • Leaving cert / courses (QQI etc)
  • Don’t have unexplained gaps of no employment / study
  • Reverse Chronological order

First & Most Important: 3 min 30 sec
  • Unpacking the job description
  • Demonstrating your understanding of the job description 

Key Areas of the CV: ~4 min 50 sec
  • Details the key areas that can be included on the CV such as education, work experience, volunteering etc. Not all are necessary.

Structure: 5 min 20 sec - nearly the end
  • Focuses on the details such as fonts, headings etc.
  • The style and use of language, positioning 
  • Different work: paid, volunteer, professional unpaid
  • Hobbies & Interests
  • References: Upon Request

  • Links back to the original point of engaging the reader
