South Africa is celebrating Freedom Day. Apart from celebrating the day, it commemorates the first post-apartheid elections held on this day in 1994. The elections were the first non-racial national elections where everyone of voting age of over 18 from any race group, including foreign citizens permanently resident in South Africa, were allowed to vote. The editor-in-chief of Sound Africa, Jedi Ramalapa explains how the day has been marked with the Covid-19 threat. She spoke to Helen Toby
