Paolo Giordano - How Contagion Works

Season 1, Episode 6,   May 03, 2020, 09:05 PM

From the European epicentre of the Covid-19 pandemic. Italian physicist, best-selling novelist and HBO TV series creator Paolo Giordano talks to Richard Kilgarriff about getting ready for a new world of paradoxes and opportunities.

Paolo Giordano has a PHD in theoretical physics, but he’s also an award-winning novelist whose first book – The Solitude of Prime Numbers - sold over a million copies world-wide.  A true polymath, he’s the creator of a new HBO TV series - We Are Who We Are - coming to our screens later this year. In February 2020 , worried that his fellow Italians weren’t taking the threat of Covid-19 seriously enough, Paolo wrote a series of articles for Italian newspapers which were read by over four million people and influenced the nation's attitude to the pandemic, arguably changing the course of contagion in his country. How Contagion Works is his attempt to explain what happened and how we might navigate the future together as a global community.
