More than 1,000 flood-affected families cross from Jonglei into Lakes State

More than one thousand households displaced by flooding in Jonglei state have crossed into neighbouring Lakes state. The families made up of seven thousand individuals, are settled around the Minkaman area in Awerial county.  
 
The coordinator of the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC) office in Awerial, John Parech says the IDPs crossed the River Nile from Twic East and Bor counties using boats and are settled in schools and churches.  
 
The RRC Coordinator is concerned about the potential spread of coronavirus in the crowded areas.
 
The arrival of the IDPs in Mingkaman comes as over twenty villages from the host community have also been displaced by floods.  
 
The Executive Director of Awerial County, Manoch James says the humanitarian situation is desperate.
