Lianne La Havas: Embracing Your Blackness

Jul 09, 2020, 05:00 AM

Singer songwriter Lianne La Havas joins Leanne, Roshan and Livs on the show and together they discuss everything from the inspiration for her new album, navigating the music industry as a young Black woman and some of the challenges she has faced along the way. She talks about how difficult it's been not having any Black people on her team, her label not understanding her hair choices and she shares a story of the time that she couldn't wear a head wrap in a music video because it was too Black!

She also sets the record straight about her #BritsSoWhite comments in 2016, openly acknowledging her lack of understanding of systemic racism and how she educated herself.

This conversation is so raw and real, and unapologetically black!

Lianne's new album is out on 17th July.
