IOM launches gender gap report

The International Office of Migration says it has launched a report on closing the Gender Gap in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene.
The report identifies barriers that women face to meaningfully participate in humanitarian programming, particularly the WASH sector in South Sudan.
Speaking to Radio Miraya earlier today, Olivia Pearson from the WASH Cluster, said barriers being faced by women include threats of violence and being overlooked due to their gender. She spoke in an exclusive interview with Miraya's Sebit William along with Catherine Hingley from the IOM.
The report also gives recommendations on the way forward in closing the gap.
In South Sudan, sixty two percent of the population have to travel for longer than 30 minutes to access a safe water source.
