Rock ‘n’ roll musician Kirk Adams was Thursday’s guest on The Catalyst Sessions, and explained how he inauspiciously started his career in show business as a kid magician in the Fort Lauderdale area. He can, in fact, still do a couple of cool card tricks if he’s in the right mood.
Music, however, won him over, and once he started playing bass, then guitar, it was only natural that he would start writing songs – and now, six albums later, he’s one of St. Petersburg’s most valuable players.
Part of the appeal is the strain of pop that runs through his rock ‘n’ blues, a direct lineage, no doubt, from the great tunesmith Paul McCartney, one of Adams’ acknowledged idols and major influences.
Armed with this fact, the host of The Catalyst Sessions, himself a Beatles acolyte and longtime fan of McCartney’s works, challenged Adams to a song contest. During the interview, they went back and forth, each armed with a list of their favorite tunes from McCartney’s long and winding post-Beatles career. #stpetecatalyst #stpete #florida #TampaBay #Radio
