"The Catalyst Sessions" w/ Bill DeYoung 9-18-20

Episode 3970,   Sep 19, 2020, 09:04 PM

Tampa’s Innovocative Theatre and Lab Theater Project are teaming up to produce four performances of Glen Berger’s play Underneath the Lintel, Sept. 24-27.

Innovacative’s Staci Sabarsky is directing Owen Robertson, of Lab, in the one-person show about a librarian who discovers a book that’s been anonymously returned after 113 years. He begins to chase the mystery, and it sends him back through time, where he encounters all sorts of people, places and things that only deepen his curiosity.

Sabarsky and Robertson, the founders and executive directors of their respective theater companies, appeared Friday on The Catalyst Sessions to talk about the show, and the unusual method they’re using to bring it to audiences: All four performances, at Lab’s Ybor location, will include a socially-distanced audience – just 10 seats! – and will be concurrently livestreamed.

It’s a new business model, a pivot necessitated by Covid, of course, but an exciting first step in bringing the thrills, chills and freshness of live theater back for those who crave it. #stpetecatalyst #stpete #tampanay #radio
