The United Nations Commission on Human Rights in South Sudan says a slow implementation of the peace agreement and conflict in the country have had a huge impact on the overall economic and humanitarian situation.
Presenting the report to the UN Human Rights Council, the Commission’s Chairperson Yasmin Sooka stressed that implementation of key areas has been stalled, particularly around security sector reform.
Commissioner Sooka also calls on the African Union and IGAD to urgently ensure that the Chapter Five of the Revitalised Peace Agreement is implemented, with a special attention being paid to women’s rights
