What started as a video sharing app for teens in China in 2016 quickly got reimagined as TikTok in 2017. In two years it grew to dominate 150 countries and have 75 languages to engage the users. By 2020 April, the app had hooked not just the Gen Z and Millennials but also their parents. The result was 2 billion TikTok downloads by April 2020.
