Elspeth Kirkman is the co-author of “Behavioural Insights”. BI is a surprisingly new discipline and this podcast will introduce you to its growing power, which is all about attacking practical problems by using real evidence about human behaviour. Imagine you’re running the country – you want to help unemployed people find work faster; help social workers improve their decision-making under pressure; improve school attendance and attainment – through her work at the Behavioural Insights Team, Elspeth Kirkman has helped leaders tackle all these problems by studying how people actually respond to different policies and prompts and not rely on guesswork.

In this episode Rachel Schofield challenges you to consider how much of your behaviour is influenced by your unconscious self. On the surface you may think you are the embodiment of rational decision-making, but behavioural insights expert Elspeth Kirkman thinks otherwise.
