Learning in Schools in Northern Bahr Ghazal have officially resumed, one week after the national ministry of general education announced the opening of schools for learning for students in candidate classes.
The reopening of the schools in the state had been delayed because they were not disinfected and sprayed in time last week.
Addressing the students during the opening in Aweil town yesterday, State Governor Tong Akeen Ngor called for the provision of COVID-19 preventive tools in the various schools functioning in the State.
Speaking to Radio Miraya, the students expressed joy and happiness for resumption of learning.
Relatedly, the Director general for basic and secondary education in the Ministry of General Education and Instruction says the disinfecting process for various schools is facing logistic challenges that have led to the slowdown of the whole process.
Nelson Odur however says the schools are safe until children go to those places.
He emphasized that the disinfection process will only take place in the identified hotspots and not every school.
