Senior SPLM-IO blames guarantors and IGAD for not discharging their oversight role in peace implementation

A senior SPLM-IO member is calling on guarantors and regional bloc IGAD to do more in their role of overseeing the implementation of the peace deal.

The SPLM-IO representative to the National Constitutional Amendment Committee, Nathaniel Oyet Pierino says the guarantors have almost abandoned the agreement and leaving the parties on their own.

He says the parties to the agreement are left on their own.

He says lack of political will to move the peace process forward may not allow the agreement to meet its goals.

Oyet is concerned that with this slow pace in the agreement will take years to be implemented.
