Regional expert dissects impact of Biden administration on Africa

A regional expert in economic transformation says the election of Joe Biden as the next President of the United States is likely to come with more pressure on South Sudan to fully implement the 2018 revitalized peace agreement. 

Professor Augustus Nuwagaba says the new Biden administration under the Democratic Party will be keen to protect security in the Eastern Horn of Africa to contain Russia and China’s influence in the region.

 

In terms of trade, Nuwagaba believes that Biden is likely to be more ‘outward looking’ providing more opportunities to Africa, compared to Trump’s inward looking ‘Make America Great Again” mantra
