More than 600 cases have been filed at the GBV court in Juba since proceedings started in Oct 2019.

Deputy Ambassador and Head of Development Cooperation of the Embassy of Kingdom of the Netherlands in South Sudan Michel Deelen says the setting up of the Gender Based Violence and Juvenile court is very timely as it shows government’s commitment to ending impunity for gender-based crimes and hold perpetrators accountable.

And UNDP Advisor, Access to Justice, Security and Human Rights, Evelyn Edroma says the courts will provide support to the victims to enable them to be heard and achieve redress. The two were speaking this morning on the Miraya breakfast
