Claire Forde in conversation with...Rae Walker

Jan 12, 2021, 09:54 PM

Time to re-join Claire Forde and her 'in conversation with...' series; this time sitting down for a catch-up with her close friend Rae Walker.

Rae lost her sight at the age of twenty-two, and she speaks to Claire about how it unfolded, the support she received at the time, deciding to move schools at eleven, and the reaction from her family.

As with many, sight loss has not deterred Rae from living her best life, and tells Claire about many of her hobbies and pastimes, such as being an avid long-distance runner, swimmer, pole dancer, and YouTube star. She also talks about how support from groups such as RNIB Scotland's Haggeye forum gave her the "kick up the backside" she needed to embrace her independence and individuality.
