UNMISS boss addresses Press conference in Juba

The Special Representative of the UN Secretary General in South Sudan, on Tuesday, addressed a major press conference touching on a number of current developments in South Sudan, including the peace process, subnational violence, and the transition of Protection of Civilians sites.
Mr. Shearer said the mission has increased patrols to potential hotspots and will this week deploy peacekeepers to seven temporary operating bases across the country.
On the Covid situation in the country, Mr. Shearer noted, that the UN do respect the Government’s decision last week to increase restrictions given the surge in local cases and appealed to everyone to continue observing the Coronavirus preventive measures being put in place.
