The South Sudan Pilots Association has expressed sorrow at the death of its member, Majur Malou who died in Tuesday’s plane crash in Jonglei state on Tuesday evening.

The HK-4274 commercial passenger aircraft was flying from Juba to Pibor when it crashed at Pieri Airstrip in Uror County.

Majur was the co-pilot in the South Supreme Airlines’ light plane that crashed a few minutes after takeoff.

South Supreme Airlines is owned by South Sudanese businessman Ayii Duang Ayii.

President Salva Kiir on Wednesday ordered the suspension of the airline pending investigations into the cause of the crash and an audit into the air worthiness of its other aircraft.

While investigations are going on to establish the cause of the crash, the acting chairperson of the Pilots Association steering committee, Ajiing Ring, expressed hope that more safety measures would be taken.

Radio Miraya’s Gabriel Shadar spoke to Ajiing Ring in this 4” interview.
