Humanitarian organizations have written a joint letter to the UK government over reports of an intended aid cut to South Sudan.

It was reported in sections of the media this week that Britain was contemplating slashing global aid spending this year due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the UK economy.

Director of the NGO South Sudan forum, Pius Ojara says they are engaging the UK government at the highest levels.

The NGO forum released a statement earlier today warning that the humanitarian crisis in South Sudan is reaching devastating levels with over 8.3 million people now in need of urgent humanitarian assistance.

Mr. Ojara says the greatest concern is an estimated 100,000 people who risk starvation.

He spoke to Radio Miraya’s Regina Gorle on all these issues.
