Reflecting on Ann Marie Smith's Death, 1 Year On

Episode 1335,   Apr 14, 2021, 02:30 AM

A vigil held at SA Parliament House on Tuesday 6 April, marked the one year anniversary of Ann Marie  Smith’s tragic death.

Despite having a carer at her house every day, the 54-year-old with cerebral palsy was malnourished, in septic shock and in need of  surgery to remove rotting flesh caused by severe pressure sores from being left in the same chair every day.

At the vigil, the names of 15 other people with disability who died from abuse or neglect were also read out. Chief Executive at Community Living Australia, Mark Kulinski, was there. He joins Jennie to reflect and discuss how we all have a role to play to safeguard some of the most vulnerable people in our  community.
