Season 1, Episode 6,   Nov 06, 2020, 12:00 PM

Rounding up our latest conversations on the next generation of ships and marine fuels, in this rendition of the ship.energy podcast Mark Williams and Tony Foster of Marine Capital Limited tackle the million – or indeed billion – dollar question of how we finance the impending transformation the world’s shipping fleet. They consider the future funding landscape for the shipping industry within the zero-carbon transition, the potential demand for greater transparency and stricter governance within the sector, and the impact of corporate versus regulatory influence upon investment decisions.

Marine Capital Ltd (MCL) is a specialist shipping asset manager providing direct shipping investment strategies for institutional investors.

MCL acts as a link between steel and paper, connecting investors to ships, including asset sourcing, transaction management and commercial management.

Over the last four decades working in shipping Tony has worked in ship ownership, commercial management, broking and fund management. He has spent considerable time in Asia including as a Director of the Handysize bulker operator Pacific Basin before setting up MCL.

MCL is something of an evangelist for decarbonising shipping. The company is a member of the Global Maritime Forum, the Getting to Zero Coalition, also involved with the Green Finance Institute in the UK and in discussion with the Department for Transport on developing its maritime strategy.
