FORD MUSTANG MACH-E MEETS TARGETED EPA ESTIMATED RANGE

Today, Ford announced the United States Environmental Protection Agency has certified range numbers for several variants of the all-electric 2021 Mustang Mach-E.

A reminder two powertrains (SR 68kWh and ER 88kWh). Those batteries from LG CHem in Poland.

Either in AWD or RWD

Ford has met all its targeted EPA-estimated range ratings for variants tested by the EPA to date. The extended-range rear-wheel-drive Mustang Mach-E meets its targeted EPA-estimated range of 300 miles, while the extended-range all-wheel-drive model meets its targeted EPA-estimated 270-mile range.

Standard-range rear-wheel-drive Mustang Mach-E meets its targeted EPA-estimated range of 230-mile, while the standard-range all-wheel-drive model exceeds its 210 miles of targeted range, with an EPA-estimated range of 211 miles.

The California Route 1 has a targeted EPA-estimated range of 300 miles which will be confirmed once EPA officials complete their tests.

Customer deliveries for the Mustang Mach-E will start in December in the United States.

"While the range is near the top of its class, it is equipped with a large 88kWh battery pack. The Mach-E Premium achieves an efficiency of 90MPGe, or 374Wh/mi (233Wh/km), far off the Long Range (LR) Model Y’s ratings of 125MPGe, or 270Wh/mi (168Wh/km) with a smaller 75kWh battery pack." says Drive TEsla Canada: "The LR Model Y has an EPA rating of 326 miles (525km)."

$54,700. 47,200 with Fed tax credit off.  Model Y LR AWD currently $49,900.

Do 56 miles matter? 0-60 in 4.8secs (identical to Tesla).  Do buyers care? Looks are subjective. Brand loyalty comes into it.

50,000 first year production, 30k of those for Europe.

And if you want to confuse things more - here it's not 270 miles, it's 335 on WLTP whereas MOdel Y is 313. The Mach E is £57,000.

FREMONT POLICE GIVES THUMPS UP TO TESLA PATROL CAR

"Police in Fremont have released the results of a pilot program involving a Tesla added to its fleet, saying the electric vehicle can withstand the rigors of police use, while requiring less maintenance." sats CBS San Francisco: "The 2014 Model S 85 electric sedan that was built at the automaker’s Fremont factory joined the department’s fleet in March of 2019. Over one year, police said the cost of charging the Tesla was significantly lower than the cost of filling up a standard Ford police vehicle. While the Tesla consumed $1,036 in energy during the pilot program, the annual cost to fill up the Ford was $5,133, assuming gasoline prices of $3.00 a gallon. Repair costs were higher for the Tesla ($4,865 vs. $2,915), but police said the downtime of the electric vehicle was nearly four weeks shorter compared to the vehicles in their gas powered fleet (39 vs 66 days). The department believes the Tesla’s reduced maintenance will likely result in a lifespan of longer than the five years expected for patrol vehicles. Fremont Police also said that the 265-mile range of the Model S “easily accommodated” the 40 to 70 miles that the department’s patrol vehicles drove on average per day. "

Captain Sean Washington: "After careful review, the Pilot Program was determined to be a success. The police patrol electric vehicle met the needs of police services, The final results from the one-year Electric Patrol Vehicle Pilot Program have been encouraging as the City of Fremont continues to look for cost-effective ways to help make Fremont more sustainable"

TESLA BOOSTS MODEL S RANGE AGAIN

"Tesla has again increased the range of the Model S electric sedan to a new record high. It is again taking the lead in its range and price rivalry with Lucid." says electrek today: "Earlier this year, Tesla managed to increase the range of the Model S to 402 miles on a single charge – a new record for all-electric vehicles. A few months later, Lucid unveiled the base version of its Air electric sedan with a range of 406 miles and a price competitive with Tesla’s Model S, which is expected to be its top competitor in the luxury sedan segment. An Electrek reader found a brand new Tesla Model S produced this month and the Monroney sticker shows an updated EPA range of 409 miles on a single charge"

RENAULT MORE THAN DOUBLED BEV SALES IN OCTOBER 2020

"Renault posted outstanding sales results for its all-electric cars in October, once again in the five-digits. The total all-electric car sales amounted to 11,526 (up 144% year-over-year), which is the third-best result ever." reports InsideEVs: "In Europe, on which falls 11,205 sales, BEVs stand for 10.9% of the total Renault volume (12.5% in the case of passenger cars). The year-to-date result is close to 84,250 (up 71% year-over-year). That's about 5.9% of the global volume for the brand (9.7% in Europe and 11.1% in the case of passenger cars). Renault's pillar is the ZOE model, which was responsible for 87% of total BEV sales in October and 90% so far this year. ZOE sales are stable at around 10,000 in recent months (excluding August). The year-to-date result almost reached 76,000, so there is a chance to reach 100,000 in 2020, but it would require at least 12,000 a month in the final two months."

MAJOR VEHICLE-TO-GRID TRIAL INITIATING IN UK

"Vehicle-to-grid trials have been going on for years. A new one in the UK, though, goes to new levels and might be the trial that helps vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology break through. The thing is, as with several earlier trials, this is limited to Nissan EV drivers — Nissan electric vehicles’ CHAdeMO charging capability is fully functional with V2G." writes Zachary at CleanTEchnica: "Trial participants receive free installation of an EV smart charger worth £5,500. The trial goes for one year. The participants are expected to earn up to £120 from March 2021 to March 2022. The CrowdCharge platform will help the Nissan EV owners to charge up when electricity is cheapest, and send electricity into the grid when there is high demand for electricity and the EV owners can make some money off of the energy trading."

PHEVS ARE FAKE ELECTRIC CARS

" Plug-in hybrid cars emit far more CO2 than advertised, according to tests commissioned by European group Transport and Environment (T&E), which on Monday called on governments to end subsidies and tax breaks for such models. The tests were conducted by Emissions Analytics on three plug-in hybrid SUV models — BMW's X5, Volvo's XC60 and Mitsubishi Motor Corp's Outlander - and found that even under optimal conditions they emitted far more CO2 than advertised." writes Autblog; "T&E's announcement came just days after proposed European Union rules were released laying out tight emissions limits for carmakers to hit for their activities to be classed as a sustainable investment. Under those rules, hybrid vehicles would lose their "green" label from 2026 onward. Plug-in hybrids are a halfway house between conventional combustion engines and electric vehicles, combining a smaller engine with an electric motor and battery."

Julia Poliscanova, T&E's senior director for clean vehicles said in a statement: "Plug-in hybrids are fake electric cars, built for lab tests and tax breaks, not real driving. Governments should stop subsidising these cars with billions in taxpayers' money."

GM WILL PAY EV-RELUCTANT CADILLAC DEALERS $500,000

"It's time to adapt or take the money and run for Cadillac dealers who aren't sold on parent automaker General Motors' commitment to move to an all-electric future. According to a report from Automotive News on Monday, GM won't force any dealer's hand, and instead, will provide up to half a million dollars to politely give up their rights to sell Cadillac vehicles." says CNET: "Buyouts aren't uncommon in the industry, but this one in particular comes amid massive transformation at the largest American automaker. GM is steadfast in its commitment to transition to only electric cars by the end of the decade at the earliest. Meanwhile Cadillac could offer an EV-only lineup by the end of this decade, depending on market conditions. The Cadillac Lyriq is the first piece of the puzzle, set to arrive in early 2022. So, if Cadillac dealers believe in the message GM's sending, they'll need to cough up at least $200,000 to invest in improvements before the Lyriq arrives. If not, dealers can take GM's buyout offer and drop the Cadillac brand from their network. "
