BMW IX3 OFFICIAL IMAGES ALLEGEDLY LEAKED ON INSTAGRAM
"BMW has yet to officially reveal the model, though that could happen soon now that official images of the iX3 have allegedly leaked online. The iX3 in the new images is identical to the crossover in the older leaked photo. The grille, headlights, front fender vent, lower fascia, and the sharp crease down the side all match. Even the blue accents are there." says Motor1.com: "BMW’s trademark chunky taillights are here as is a neat iX3 badge, though BMW hadn’t been trying to hide either. Blue accents in the lower bumper are a stand-in for the missing tailpipes, purposefully drawing attention to its all-electric powertrain. The iX3 will use a 74-kilowatt-hour battery with the single electric motor making 286 horsepower (210 kilowatts) and 296 pound-feet (400 Newton-meters) of torque, and it’ll power the rear wheels. It’ll have an estimated range of 273 miles (440 kilometers) in Europe’s forgiving WLTP test. Its U.S. EPA range doesn’t matter for now, as BMW said last month that it has no plans to bring the iX3 to the U.S. market."

BMW X8 M RUMORED TO BE A PHEV
"Trademark documents posted online a couple weeks ago revealed to us that the BMW X8 M could be on the horizon. Today, a report from Car claims the X8 M will be a PHEV." according to Autoblog "Markus Flash, head of BMW M division, indicated last year that if it brings plug-in hybrid tech to M cars, it’d be with the larger, heavier ones. He’s talking about crossovers like the X5 M, X6 M and potentially, the X8 M. Car’s report claims the X8 M PHEV would make about 750 horsepower and 737 pound-feet of torque. BMW would use its 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 in concert with an electric motor to reach those sky-high power numbers. Introducing the first M PHEV as the most powerful M car ever doesn’t sound like the worst of ideas to swat the doubters aside."

2020 AUDI A6 AVANT GETS PLUG-IN HYBRID POWERTRAIN IN EUROPE
"Audi added the A6 Avant to its growing range of plug-in hybrid models. The plug-in hybrid system is built around a turbocharged, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 252 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque; it's the same turbo four that powers the electrified variants of the A7 and Q5" reports Autoblog: "It joins forces with an electric motor connected to a 14.1-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack to send 362 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque to the four wheels. Audi quotes a 5.7-second zero-to-62-mph time, and a 155-mph top speed, though the latter figure drops to 84 mph when the turbo four is off."

TESLA’S SOFTWARE AND FULL SELF-DRIVING INFRASTRUCTURE HAS VOLKSWAGEN ‘WORRIED’
"Volkswagen CEO Herbert Diess is worried about Tesla’s lead in self-driving and software. In an internal Volkswagen e-mail that leaked this past weekend, Diess discussed Tesla’s impressive system for improving its vehicle’s self-driving capability. Diess seemed to admit that Tesla’s full self-driving infrastructure is far superior to any other mainstream automaker today." writes Teslarati: "Diess said: “What worries me the most is the capabilities in the assistance systems. 500,000 Teslas function as a neural network that continuously collects data and provides the customer a new driving experience every 14 days with improved properties. No other automobile manufacturer can do that today.”"

TESLA TRAFFIC LIGHT & STOP SIGN CONTROL (BETA) FIRST DRIVES PLUS FULL REVIEW
"Tesla's latest over-the-air software update (2020.12.6) started rolling out to the automaker's global fleet recently. It's the highly anticipated 'Stopping at Traffic Lights and Stop Signs' feature." according to InsideEVs: "To be clear, the technology actually does stop at traffic lights and stop signs. However, it's in beta form to keep drivers safe. So, it's supposed to stop at all lights – yes even green lights – until you verify and tell it otherwise. It also has some conservative settings at this point, including Autopilot speed limit restrictions. One common issue is bridge overpasses and deactivated lights tricking the system. Since the driver is still in control and must interact with the system, a certain level of safety is assumed. However, having your car stop suddenly in the middle of a busy highway isn't safe. As always, remain aware and in control of the vehicle at all times."

TESLA DELAYS RETURN OF FREMONT FACTORY WORKERS AMID SHUTDOWN EXTENSION
"Tesla is delaying the return of its Fremont factory workers as it is going to extend its factory shutdown due to an extension of the shelter-in-place order in the Bay Area." writes Fred at electrek: "Fremont, Tesla’s main factory, has been shut since March 23 due to a shelter-in-place order in the Bay Area, where the factory is located. Tesla was planning on reopening the factory on May 4 when the shelter-in-place order was supposed to be lifted. However, the six Bay Area counties have confirmed today that they are going to extend shelter-in-place orders through the end of May."

7-SEAT TESLA MODEL Y DELIVERIES MAY BEGIN THIS QUARTER
"A Canadian Tesla owner who purchased the Tesla Model Y with 7 seats has reportedly received a phone call from Tesla asking if he would be ready to take delivery of this Model Y in the second quarter of 2020." according to Clean Technica: "It’s not yet confirmed which directions some of the seats will face (front-facing as in the prototype or rear-facing like in the older Model S, for example). One would assume they face forward since that’s how Tesla showed the vehicle at its reveal, but people were not allowed to sit in the back and photos indicated there wasn’t much room back there."

XPENG P7 SMART ELECTRIC SEDAN LAUNCHES IN CHINA
Xpeng Motors, a Chinese electric vehicle and technology company, today announced the launch of itsXpeng P7 super-long range, high-performance, fast-charging intelligent EV sports sedan, its second production model.
The Xpeng P7 is immediately available for order in China, in 3 versions and 8 configurations, and customer deliveries will commence end June 2020, starting at RMB 229,900 – 349,900 (US$32,462 – 49,404) post subsidies.

The P7’s multiple front-facing, side and rear-facing cameras cover a 180°-degree+ field of view, following tight curves and recognizing vehicles cutting in at close quarters. The P7 is equipped with the industry’s first new-generation forward-looking millimeter wave radar sensors, with detection distance over 200 meters, offering market-leading accuracy and angle of view, effectively penetrating rain, fog, haze to perceive surroundings in reduced visibility conditions. Four more high-performance millimeter wave radars are positioned at each corner of the P7 – an industry-leading configuration.
