PORSCHE CONFIRMS: TAYCAN PRODUCTION WILL BEGIN ON SEPTEMBER 9
"After the bold unveiling of the final version of the Porsche Taycan, the German manufacturer announced the start of production of the first customer cars on 9 September 2019. The new all-electric flagship will be made at a new production facility (within Zuffenhausen site), which was under construction for almost four years." says InsideEVs: "It's not yet known how high the production volume might be - initially we heard 20,000 per year, but later 40,000 was rumored. The number might also include the derivatives of the Taycan. Considering sales of 256,255 cars in 2018, there is a chance that the Taycan will allow Porsche to get closer to 300,000 cars per year."

PORSCHE INCREASES ITS STAKE IN RIMAC AUTOMOBILI FROM 10% TO 15.5%
"Porsche and Rimac Automobili strengthens their partnership related to high-performance EV technology development. The German manufacturer initially took 10% of Rimac Automobili and 10% of Rimac's subsidiary Greyp Bikes in June 2018. We assume that as Rimac has proven high value and quick progress, Porsche was convinced to further increase its stake to 15.5%." reports InsideEVs: "Besides working with multiple other manufacturers on various projects, Rimac is also busy at work to complete development of the all-new Rimac C_Two all-electric hypercar, which will enter the market in 2020."

1,914-HP RIMAC C_TWO DRIVES STRAIGHT INTO A WALL AS PRODUCTION NEARS
"The electric, 1,914-horsepower C_Two that Rimac unveiled at the 2018 edition of the Geneva Motor Show is well on its way to becoming a production model. The Croatian automaker released a short video that gives a behind-the-scenes look at the on-going process of homologating the car." says Autoblog who posted the video let's take a listen" [video]
Autoblog says: "Rimac is putting itself through the trouble of homologation because it wants the C_Two to be street-legal in every major market around the world. The alternative would be to make the car a track-only model, and let owners in the United States, for example, take advantage of the show or display regulations to drive it on public roads a handful of times per year. At least the firm doesn't have to worry about the wildly different emissions regulations enforced around the globe. The C_Two is fitted with four electric motors that draw electricity from a 120-kilowatt-hour battery pack to generate a total output of 1,914 horsepower and 1,696 pound-feet of torque. Range checks in at 404 miles on the optimistic NEDC cycle, the sprint from zero to 60 mph takes 1.8 seconds, and its top speed checks in at 258 mph."

DETHLEFFS EXHIBITS FIRST PRODUCTION READY E.HYBRID MOTORHOME THE ‘GLOBEVAN E-HYBRID’
"The Globevan e.Hybrid, which Dethleffs is presenting for the first time at the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf, is the first production ready implementation. The basis of the Globevan e.Hybrid is a Ford Transit Custom with drive axles whose propulsion is purely electrical." according to Caravan Gossip: "The rechargeable battery installed in the vehicle provides a range of up to 50 km of purely electrical operation. The Globevan also offers a greater range overall, of course. This is achieved with the built-in “Range Extender”, a 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine that serves exclusively as a generator for charging the battery. This combination offers the advantage that the Globevan, which is suitable for everyday use, can be driven in cities just using electricity."

TESLA ADDS ONLINE PARTS SALES
"Tesla added a new Parts page to its online shop today in a move that hints at more direct sales of parts to customers around the world. The new shop is somewhat stripped down as it stands today, with a few options for floor mats and new key cards for the Tesla Model 3, but it bodes well for the future." reports Kyle Field for Clean Technica: "Making parts available directly to customers over the internet replicates the parts supply model that the automotive industry has used for years, but eliminates the middle man. That gives customers and body shops the best prices from Tesla, without the need for any markups. To Tesla, that also means it gets all of the profits, at retail pricing, along with full control over those prices."

BOSCH AND CATL COLLABORATING ON BATTERY CELLS FOR 48V HYBRIDS
"Bosch and Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL) have concluded a long-term strategic cooperation agreement under which the partners will jointly specify high-performance battery cells. CATL will then design, develop, and manufacture these cells in accordance with Bosch requirements." according to Green Car Congress: "The cells are to be used in the 48-volt battery developed by Bosch. This battery is the core element of 48-volt hybrid powertrain systems.CATL is currently building a battery factory in Erfurt, Germany. For Bosch, this alliance is another step on the path to market leadership in electromobility. Numerous global automakers already use Bosch’s 48-volt battery. Bosch’s portfolio for 48-volt systems extends beyond the 48-volt battery to encompass other system components such as DC/DC converters and electrical machines."

my favourite EV experience has to be my first back in 2017. I’d had a heart attack in 2014 and was just recovering from a triple heart bypass in June. Unbeknownst to me my best mate Steve (@GreenRenegade4) had contacted Tesla Europe explained about all that had happened to me, health wise, since 2013 inc the depression I was suffering. Between them they arranged for me To go out in a test drive in a Model S P100D!
Pretty much they day after I was cleared to drive again after the major surgery we headed to Dartford and out we went!
Most say their first drive in an EV is memorable it was for me but for so many reasons. It was also a bit of a catalyst that help me on the road out of depression. Thank you Steve and thank you Tesla.

I have recently retired, My Children & Partner surprised me with a Track experience in a Tesla Model S 90 D! Wow what a drive! The shear acceleration and handling of such a big car, mind blowing!!! I cannot recommend enough to any one who has this dream to fulfill it! A time that will never be forgotten! Should you wish to mention it, my experience was supplied by the Great guy's at Drift Limits Hemel Hempstead, UK.

It's hard to pinpoint a favourite moment but oneof them is driving up the very, very steep
hill on a major street. We used to have a Pointiac Firefly, standard shift and it was a
major pain in the neck to drive up that hill. You have to get the revs just right or
you were in danger of stalling. We live on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia
and it is one major hillside in town. Most of the streets here have BIG hills. Now,
with the LEAF, we can sail up that hill (or any hill) like a dream.

As a motorcyclist I was convinced to test a 2020 Zero SR/F motorcycle. It was like being awakened after a year’s long slumber! I knew about instant torque but this is the first time I’ve actually felt it. I’ve been on some very fast motorbikes, and the Zero is not the fastest, but nothing gets you from 35mph to triple digits as quickly as an electric motor! Now I know the secret; electric vehicles are better! Not because they reduce pollution, which is wonderful, not because they are easier to maintain, which they are, but because they do what all gearheads (petrolheads in UK) want to do with every vehicle they own. Go faster in the most exciting way possible! And at a fraction of the fuel cost, I am hooked!

I've had several great experiences in my Volt since buying it in January of this year! My favorite thing is to give friends, family, and coworkers their first experience with an EV. I love hearing the "Wow's" and "This is so cool!"
But the thing I am most looking forward to is coming up next week. I'll be in Knoxville, Tennessee, participating in my first EV Drive and Ride event! This event is part of the National Drive Electric Week happening in the U.S. from September 14th through the 22nd. People can find an event near them by going to DriveElectricWeek.org.

Last August I was browsing Facebook when I got presented with an avert from Jaguar for an Art of Performance experience focussed on the i-Pace at Millbrook Prooving Ground, a car I’ve been interested in since early 2017 at the ultimate venue. I jumped at it and booked a space and could not wait until the day.
I was not disappointed. The day started with a presentation from Jaguar on the principles of EVs, their journey to designing the i-Pace and how you live with an EV. This was followed by a tour of a cut-out car before a series of experiences including the cone challenge, driving around the High Speed Bowl, the Hill Route and being driven at extreme speed around the inner Handling circuit, passing high performance cars!

In 2018, my buddy with a Tesla Model S 90D took me for a ride to experience an electric car for the first time. The instant acceleration had me hooked and giggling like a kid on a roller coaster. Then he let me get behind the wheel and that's when my world changed. I laughed so hard when I floored it that I gave myself an asthma attack. My 2015 fossil car has been a disappointment ever since and every drop of gasoline I use only fuels my passion to make the switch to electric. I'll get there some day.

My best experience with my 2018 long range rwd Tesla Model 3 was my first successful Navigate on Autopilot from Melbourne, Florida to St. Augustine, Florida this past July.
The interstate I-95 distance is about 129 miles and the car drove the full distance with navigate on autopilot. I set the car to auto lane change without confirmation. It drove, signaled and passed slower cars, merged on & off the highway & handled the busy traffic merging from I-4. A previous trip it did all but the I-4 merging traffic due to construction.
The full trip from my home to my son's home is about 178 miles and the non-interstate highway were driven by autopilot with input from me to signal lane changes, stop & turn at intersections as well as engage & disengage autopilot as needed.

Best experience would be driving people at Fully Charged Live as part of the Tesla Owners Group. A massively positive and uplifting experience. Hopefully can do it again next year.

My favorite EV experience happened last October, two weeks after my parents came to visit. I picked my parents up in my 2013 Volt. From the moment my Dad got in the car it was a week of questions about EV’s. I’m use to answering questions about my car through my outreach with my local EV club, but my Father is a retired electrical engineer, so some of the questions I had to look up.
The moment was 2 weeks later when my mother informed me that my father had gotten on the wait list for the EQC. What is so amazing is that my father was until recent a die-hard American Muscle car owner and has owed mustang’s for the last 20 years.
