TESLA SAYS IT HAS NOT RECEIVED SUBPOENA ON MODEL 3 PRODUCTION
- "Tesla Inc said on Friday it had not received a subpoena from the U.S. Department of Justice regarding production guidance for its Model 3 sedans, in response to a Wall Street Journal story that said the electric carmaker was facing a deeper criminal probe." according to a Reuters report: "A Tesla spokesperson said it had received a voluntary request for documents from the DoJ and the company was cooperative in responding to it."
- Tesla said: "We have not received a subpoena, a request for testimony, or any other formal process, and there have been no additional document requests about this from the Department of Justice for months".
TESLA SAYS IT HAS NOT RECEIVED SUBPOENA ON MODEL 3 PRODUCTION
- We could be seeing a resurrection of the of the famous Toyota MR2 sports car. "We know Toyota is toying with the idea of resurrecting its famed nameplate for an entry-level sports car and now it is reported it could be working on an all-electric vehicle." reports Motor1.com: "In an interview during the Paris Motor Show earlier this month, Toyota’s European vice president of sales and marketing, Matt Harrison, confirmed to Autocar the automaker is at the “discussion stage” with the MR2 modern-day successor. Not only that, but it’s apparently “a favoured potential addition to the product plan. The British magazine claims an electric powertrain is a highly possible option for the small mid-engine sports car. One of the reasons for that is the flexible Toyota New Global Architecture, which can accommodate an electric propulsion and be used as a base for the sports car. An EV powertrain, in turn, could be positioned between the car’s front and rear axles, keeping the spirit of the original model alive. A battery pack positioned low in the coupe’s floor could even add to that great weight distribution and low center of gravity.”

NEW BMW 330E IPERFORMANCE COMING IN 2019 WITH MORE ELECTRIC RANGE
- A friend of mine was recently looking for a new Plug In Hybrid to buy (he's not ready for full electric) and he wanted the BMW 330e but he couldn't get one before next Summer, almost a year away.
- BMW say it's coming, but not for a long time yet: "Summer 2019 will see a further addition to the drive system portfolio in the form of a plug-in hybrid model. This new generation of the BMW 330e Sedan combines the exceptional driving dynamics of the sports sedan, unrivalled by any other manufacturer, with the latest BMW eDrive technology. At a provisional figure of up to 60 kilometres (37 miles)*, the electric range has increased by around a third compared with the predecessor model, while both the fuel consumption and CO2 emissions of the new BMW 330e Sedan are down by more than 10 per cent – to 1.7 litres per 100 kilometres (166.2 mpg imp) and 39 grams per kilometre* (provisional figures). In addition to these selling points, the intelligently controlled BMW eDrive technology imparts a hybrid-specific dimension to the driving enjoyment characteristic of the brand. The electric drive integrated into the eight-speed Steptronic transmission joins forces with the combustion engine to generate system output of up to 185 kW – or up to 215 kW when the newly developed XtraBoost mode is engaged. The BMW 330e Sedan can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.0 seconds (provisional figure)."
CHARGEPOINT PARTNERS WITH TOTAL
- A Business Green story today picked up on another EV / Oil company tie up: "EV infrastructure firm ChargePoint has teamed up with French oil and gas major Total to "lay the groundwork for the next generation of fuelling" by encouraging more UK businesses to install electric vehicle chargers. The reseller partnership announced yesterday will see Total Gas & Power offer its UK business energy customers charging points, installation and other EV services provided by US firm ChargePoint."
- ChargePoint, the world’s leading electric vehicle (EV) charging network, and Total Gas & Power, one of the leading energy suppliers to business customers, today announced a reseller partnership that will offer comprehensive EV charging solutions and services to businesses throughout the United Kingdom. This partnership marks another milestone in the movement to transition to electric mobility and provides businesses in the UK with an opportunity to participate in the fueling network of the future.
- This agreement comes after several European countries, including the UK, committed to banning the sale of petrol and diesel vehicles in the coming decades, creating a sharp increase in demand for broadly distributed EV charging solutions. Analyst reports indicate that one in four new cars sold worldwide will be electric by 2030, and more than half by 2040, underscoring the critical need for a massive investment in EV charging infrastructure. ChargePoint currently has more than 55,000 places to charge on its network worldwide and, last month, committed to expanding its global network to 2.5 million by 2025, the largest commitment made by any EV charging network and the company’s most significant to date.
TESLA SEMI RESERVATION HOLDER SAYS DELIVERIES ARE EXPECTED IN 2020
- An Electrek report today says: "After unveiling its electric truck prototype and starting to take reservations in November 2017, Tesla announced that it aims to bring the vehicle to production in 2019. At a University of Pennsylvania summit called ‘Moving America Forward: Next Generation Truck Freight Transport, NFI Industries vice president of fleet services James O’Leary said that his company ordered 10 Tesla Semi trucks and that they were told to expect delivery in 2020 "
- O’Leary credited Tesla for getting people to talk about electric trucking: “Nobody in North America was talking about electric vehicles until your local news outlets picked up the rollout of the Tesla semi. That led basically to what we call the Tesla effect. Now shippers are asking their carriers where you are with electric vehicles.”

INDIA'S ELECTRIC RICKSHAW REVOLUTION TOPS CHINA'S EV PUSH
- "An electric-vehicle revolution is gaining ground in India, and it has nothing to do with cars. The South Asian nation is home to about 1.5 million battery-powered, three-wheeled rickshaws, a fleet bigger than the total number of electric passenger cars sold in China since 2011. But while the world's largest auto market dangled significant subsidies to encourage purchases of battery-powered cars, India's e-movement hardly got a hand from the state." so says a new Bloomberg article today: "Rather, drivers of the three-wheelers discovered that e-rickshaws are quieter, faster, cleaner and cheaper to maintain than a traditional auto rickshaw. They also are less strenuous than cycle rickshaws, which require all-day peddling. So, with more rides possible in a day, the e-rickshaws are proving more lucrative. As many as 11,000 new e-rickshaws hit the streets every month, and annual sales are expected to increase about 9 percent by 2021, according to Rahul Mishra, a principal at consulting firm A.T. Kearney. Three-wheeled vehicles make up a $1.5 billion market, and manufacturers of electric versions include Mahindra & Mahindra and Kinetic Engineering, along with smaller outfits that assemble parts imported from China."
