Tuesday 13th February 2018. On the podcast today…

  • BMW is working on a 10-year plan to guarantee cobalt and lithium supply, down to the level of the mine.
  • The CEO of Panasonic in North America says they’re ready to expand cell production wherever it’s needed, including expanding their facilities Japan.
  • The Porsche Mission E could have the initial production run of 20,000 cars doubled following strong interest, not only in EVs in general, but specifically the Mission E.
  • Chinese Changan Auto confirm to a total phase out of gas powered cars by 2025.
  • Reports of another update to the Renault Zoe ZE40, not to the battery size, but to the motor. The R110 would have an 82kW motor, which is 20% more powerful, combined with an updated CCS Combo charger.
  • The BMW X7 is heading to the LA Auto Show later this year which could include a Plug In Hybrid version to go up against the equivalent models from Range Rover and Mercedes.
  • And finally the Jaguar I-PACE has been spotted by forum member, pulling 5kWh over 40mins from the AC charger. Sadly no photos of the interior were available so we’ll have to wait until the unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show.
