Photo: The Oxford Spanish Civil War memorial, erected near South Park after all planning permissions for an anti-fascist memorial in Oxford city center were rejected. The six names are volunteers from Oxford who died fighting with the International Brigades against fascism in Spain. The red star is the logo of the International Brigades, and the fist gripping the scorpion symbolises freedom crushing fascism. The memorial stands near South Park, Oxford, where Morrell Avenue meets Headington Road.
