Season 6, Episode 5,   Jul 31, 2021, 04:30 PM

Welcome Back to Blue Moon Vibes! The podcast that makes you laugh a lil' bit, cry a lil' bit, and think a lil' bit! My goal is to be the one that gives you more than you asked! I hope you can find value in these topics, and they become something that you talk amongst your friends and family about! Don't shy away from challenging issues because that is where growth happens! The change you want to see is the change you must create! We are worthy, we are tenacious, we are strong, and we are purposeful! The only way to erase the divide is to come together as a nation and treat each other as people, with respect and courtesy!

It's Series 6 Episode 5 . Swing low, sweet chariot, comin' for to carry me home, Swing low, sweet chariot Coming for to carry me home (courtesy of Mr. Wallace Willis. If you know, you know. In the tumultuous times of the human property era, enslaved African Americans, being unable to read or write, would often communicate through song. They would send messages to others, plan routes, meeting, etc., all through the language of music. These melodies became known as negro spirituals. Much like the one above, the messages were only understood by slaves. Over the years, different interpretations have been made. I believe this one is about the desire to be free, to have those abolitionists from the northern lands come down to the south and take those enslaved to freedom.

Ending our friendship topic, we begin today's show with the discussion around the "new holiday" Juneteenth. You will hear Soul Brotha' make a correlation to the emancipation proclamation. PBid will refer to battle tactics, and Lady Dee will speak on the youth. As you all know, we use every episode to make you laugh, cry, and think, and this one is no different. As most people of color understand, and as CLEARLY stated in today's show, the African American people have been celebrating Juneteenth forever. The juxtaposition now is that President Biden's signings give others the pass of acceptability to join in on the festivities.
