Coping with Mental Health as We Start to Come Out of Lockdown and Restrictions

Season 1, Episode 821,   Aug 12, 2021, 09:00 AM

It has been fantastic to hear about the success of the GB Olympic Team, all the medals they have one in Tokyo over the last couple of weeks and hoping for similar success at the Paralympic Games too. It was very clear during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games how much mental health plays a part in determining outcomes for athletes.

So in this week's Connect Radio catch up with Pharmacist Elizabeth Roddick from New Life Pharmacy in Glasgow our Toby Davey began by asking Elizabeth whether there is enough emphasis on mental health as we come out of lockdown and restrictions.

Elizabeth explained how it helps to share mental health issues with someone whether it is a family member, a close friend, a person from a befriending service in your local area, speaking to your GP about mental health issues, contacting Counselling services, attending mindfulness classes, etc.

Elizabeth also talked  about the potential autumn booster Covid vaccinations and the possible benefits of having a different vaccine for the booster from the two Covid jabs you may have previously had.

If you are experiencing mental health issues at the moment and would like to talk to someone don't forget that the RNIB Mental Health Check In sessions are here for you too and more details can be found by calling the RNIB helpline on 0303 123 9999.

Also there is help through NHS Volunteer Responders (England’ on 0808 196 3646) And Breathing Space (Scotland on  0800 838 587)
