Group Therapy: Paying it Forward Dilemma

Jen wants to know, is there drive thru 'pay it forward' etiquette? "Jen" had someone pay for her $10 order and she ended up with a $30 order behind her. Is it acceptable to ask to cover an equal amount for someone down the line or does it always have to be the car behind you?
