The MFH Good Deed Segment: Kim's Second Round of Cancer Treatment

Aug 24, 2021, 10:00 PM

What began as a precancerous tumor for 30-year-old Kim Stone in 2016 had to be surgically removed in January 2021 as a cancerous tumor. In March and April of this year, Kim received radiation treatment MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. In June, Kim had a CT scan in June that showed no evidence of disease. At that time, she was told she was in remission. July came and Kim started feeling bad. She has now been at MD Anderson for seven days (with horrible abdominal spasms) waiting on the medical team to decide on a treatment plan. It might be surgery and chemo, or just chemo. They did a biopsy last Friday and the results came back positive for cancer day before yesterday. It has spread to her omentum in several places. At this point, she is waiting on the doctors to all put their heads together and come up with a plan for her case.
On today’s show, I am talking with Kim’s former college roommate and loyal friend, Mandy Pilgreen. Mandy made the trip to Houston to see Kim and find out what she needed. Mandy has now organized a fundraiser for Kim.
