Daily Dose @ 5: Malaysia records 22,642 daily COVID-19 cases, Russia begins Afghan evacuations

AMONG the headlines for Wednesday, August 25th, 2021, Malaysia recorded another 22,642 daily COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of positive cases to 1,616,244 cases.
Also, Russia’s armed forces said they began evacuating more than 500 Russians and citizens of several ex-Soviet states from Afghanistan today. The evacuations were the first made public by Russia, which has taken a cautiously optimistic outlook of the new Taliban leadership in Kabul.
