Ugo Monye - "You can’t win the game on your own".

Season 2, Episode 8,   Sep 12, 2021, 11:01 PM

In today’s episode, I head to the riverside town of Richmond in Surrey to catch up with a man whose energy and lust for life is infectious. Not only has he had a phenomenal career on the pitch as a former England Rugby Union player, he’s played for the British and Irish Lions. He is now a Rugby pundit and has recently been appointed as a new Captain on the prestigious sporting game show Question of Sport.  And, that's not all  - Ugo has also been confirmed as a contestant joining the BBC Strictly Come Dancing line-up which starts next week.

During our Monday Mile stroll, we chat about the importance of career contentment, and I get an insight into Ugo's relentless work ethic.  We chat about the mental preparation involved in playing for your country, the importance of working as a team unit, and the qualities required to form that strong team. The big takeaway from this for me, is Ugo's outlook on day to day life and it’s inspired me, and I hope it inspires the listeners too. In the words of the Rugby champion himself - “Everyday is an opportunity to be grateful”. So, let’s go get this week! Oh, and of course, we just had to delve into a little Strictly Come Dancing chat, including partner predictions and Ugo's approach to the show.  GOOD LUCK UGO.

Former Team GB double winter Olympian Aimee Fuller is on a mission to find the secrets for Monday motivation from some of the most successful sports men and women of our time and other well-known celebrities who are excelling in their field, dropping a new episode every Monday.

Aimee will be probing for answers from the full spectrum of routines; the early birds who have finely tuned Monday mornings, to the late risers who struggle to get up before 11am. How do elite athletes find the motivation to kick start their week come rain or shine? How do celebrities deliver no matter what the time of day? What knowledge can they pass on?

Each episode will drop on a Monday morning and plays out in real time. Aimee will meet each of her guests for a walk and a chat and over the course of the mile she will find out how they cope on a Monday morning - their idiosyncrasies, breakfast routines, alarm noises - and how, when they need to, find the motivation to kick-on through the week.

Dropping every Monday as a bitesize piece of content and weekly dose of motivation - right when you need it - sharing some of Britain's greatest athletes’ secrets on self-motivation, candid thoughts on what they struggle with and a sideways look at some of their more unusual morning habits.
