Humanitarian organizations return to Tambura

Episode 1733,   Sep 17, 2021, 07:35 AM

Humanitarian organizations are slowly returning to Tambura Western Equatoria State after a brief suspension due to weeks of insecurity and conflict.

The World Vision and the World Food Program have resumed operations, as an integrated humanitarian assessment team visited the area to determine the safety and needs of the affected population in Tambura.

WFP Country Director also Acting Resident Humanitarian Coordinator, Matthew Hollingworth, was part of the delegation yesterday. He says the security situation is relatively calm but remains tense.

In July, the UN Mission in South Sudan established a temporary operating base in Tambura to contribute to the protection of civilians, which supports a safe and conducive environment for the humanitarian response.
