FAO: We need to move from subsistence production to commercial farming.

The UN Food and Agriculture Organization – FAO, says achieving the global target of zero hunger by 2030 can be achieved in South Sudan through combined efforts and durable peace.  The FAO Deputy Country Representative, Felix Dzvurumi, says South Sudan has the resources and needs the right environment to achieve food security and ultimately move away from subsistence production to commercial farming.

And Director General for Agriculture in the Ministry of Agriculture Food Security Dr Loro George Leju Lugor, says food insecurity in South Sudan currently affects more than 60 percent of the people due to continued communal violence. 

The two were speaking during the Miraya breakfast show this morning.
