Sheffield Police Sgt. Nick Risner loved young people. He took time with them, mentoring them, not just when things were going well, but when they were really struggling. As a foster parent, Dionna Tate can attest to this. She saw firsthand how much Sgt. Risner cared. When we lost Sgt. Risner, the young people he had an impact on were among those most affected. They lost a mentor. Dionna, who is also a LEO wife, came together with other LEO wives and decided to continue Sgt. Risner’s mentoring legacy with the Nick Risner Scholarship Fund.
