#170: The Strategy of Tension

In the wake of World War II, Western Europe was in ruins while power vacuums were being filled with rulers loyal to American interests. Operation Gladio was launched to destabilize any regime that might pose a threat to those interests.

The “strategy of tension” was a plan to control public opinion through the use of fear, propaganda, agent provocateurs, and terrorism to instill panic into the populace. This tactic did not end in the decades after the war, and it is certainly not limited to only happening in Europe.

The 2017 Las Vegas shooting has all the fingerprints of a new Operation Gladio campaign that has been redirected at the American public instead of the Italians, so is the United States being targeted for destabilization now as a way of installing fear into the public much in the way it happened decades earlier?
