Juba Mayor: On going demolitions are intended to give the city a new look

The Mayor of Juba city says that the ongoing demolition exercise of makeshift structures and buildings constructed on road reserves is meant to reorganize the city. 

In an exclusive interview with Radio Miraya, Kalisto Lado, said the operation is part of the city’s master plan to elevate it to international standards and give it a descent and organized look.

He says the exercise will continue. 

The city council has recently come under public criticism on allegation of excessive use of force and abrupt demolition of structures without prior notice 

In response, Mayor Kalisto says a lot of public awareness was done prior to undertaking the exercise.
