GESS announces cash-transfers to support 460,000 schoolgirls in South Sudan

The Girls Education South Sudan (GESS) program has announced the 2021 Girls’ Education South Sudan Cash Transfers targeting over 460,000 schoolgirls in #SouthSudan

Only girls validated between September and October this year are approved to receive the cash transfers.

Girls in candidate classes P4 and S8 will receive 8,400 SSP while P5, P6, P7 and S1 will receive 5,600 SSP.  

The GESS program is an initiative of the Ministry of General Education and Instruction and funded by the UK Government and Canada that gives girls cash transfers to increase the number of girls enrolling in school.

GESS team leader, Akuja De Garang says teams will be deployed across schools to oversee payment.
