How the RNIB Employment Service is Here to Support You and Your Employer

In the next feature of our new series of interviews looking at how the RNIB is working in partnership with sight loss sector partners and other organisations to make a more inclusive and accessible society for blind and partially sighted people Connect Radio’s Toby Davey checks in with members of the Strategic Engagement Lead - Third Sector Team here at the RNIB this time to focus on the RNIB Employment Service.

Toby was joined by Andrea Glover, Strategic Engagement Manager and Martin O’Keen Strategic Lead Employment Service here at the RNIB.

Andrea began by explaining to Toby how the Employment Service fits within all the partnership work between the RNIB, other organisations and our sight loss sector partners.

Martin talked about the work that the Employment Service does both across the sight loss sector, such as the up-coming visionary webinars, the work with recruitment professionals and employers to tackle some of the issues around the possible lack of knowledge and understanding around how to support a blind or partially sighted employees, and much more besides.

Martin also talked about the RNIB Employment Service e-learning  resources that are available to employers around employing a blind or partially sighted employee. 

As well as the support that the Employment Service also offers to blind and partially sighted people through the RNIB Helpline, pre-employment guidance, and support from the RNIB Sight Loss Advisors, who can not only support you but also engage with your employer.
