The Astroworld Tragedy & The Fall of Travis Scott

Nov 18, 2021, 05:00 AM

In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we discuss the recent tragedy at the Astroworld Festival that was held in Houston, Texas.

Since the event, over TWO HUNDRED lawsuits have been filed against Travis, the event promoters and other parties.

For anyone who isn't familiar with Astroworld, it is/was an annual annual music festival that is run by Jacques Berman Webster II aka Travis Scott.

The 2021 event was scheduled for November 5-6 and 100,000 people were due to pour through the gates.  Things started going wrong very quickly.  Only an hour after the festival started on November 5, hundreds of people stampeded through VIP section barricades.

When Travis got on stage at around 8.45pm, the crowd was hyped up and going crazy.  Police had actually spoken to Travis before his set about the nervous crowd energy that existed.  A 'perfect storm' of circumstances led to mass hysteria and a crowd crush that involved thousands of people.

At the 2021 Astroworld Festival, 8 people died at the actual event and dozens more were hospitalized.  Two additional attendees have since passed from their injuries.

This is a big episode and there is a lot to cover.  We delve into:

- How Travis has cultivated an atmosphere of chaos and raging for years leading up to Astroworld 2021
- What happened at Astroworld? What went wrong? Who is to blame?
