Disabled-led dance company Second Hand Dance brings Eve Bunting’s book ‘Night Tree’ to life through a wonderful dance film with audio description for ages 3 - 7 (and adults) via Sadler’s Wells Digital Stage until 4 January 2022.
Connect Radio’s Toby Davey caught up with Rosie Heafford, Artistic Director of Second Hand Dance to find out more about the story behind ‘Night Tree Films’ and why they wanted to make the films accessible to all.
Rosie began by telling Toby a bit about the story of ‘Night Tree’ and why Second Hand Dance decided to offer three versions of the film including one with audio description for young blind and partially sighted audiences and one with illustrated, animated creative captions for young deaf audiences. To accompany the film versions of ‘Night Tree’ there is also an activity pack which also comes in an audio version.
Rosie also talked about the process of working with describer Willie Elliot on the audio described version of ‘Night Tree’ and how they both worked together on the audio description script.
‘Night Tree Films’ including the audio described version are available free from the Sadler’s Wells Digital Stage by visiting the following link -
