The Talisman with Bryan Fuller

Episode 98,   Dec 22, 2021, 09:00 AM

Who better than Hannibal's Bryan Fuller to join us for The Talisman's first ever starring role on The Kingcast? Nobody. Bryan is quickly becoming a Kingcast staple with his incredible insight, hilarious sense of humor and a keen eye for queer readings of Stephen King classics and he does not disappoint in his triumphant return to the Kingcast stage.

This lengthy discussion covers the highs and lows of this book, how it hit all of us in our young teen years and also digs into what we expect out of the pending Netflix series being produced by Stranger Things's The Duffer Bros and some guy named Steven Spielberg.

And yes, Bryan has a queer reading on the romance between Jack and a slightly older werewolf boy in this story.

Also up for discussion: An update on Fuller's adaptation of Christine, trying to figure out which parts were written by King and which parts were written by Straub, and maybe a left-turn discussion about tripping on mushrooms.

Back in 1984 Stephen King and Peter Straub teamed up for a fantasy adventure story called The Talisman about a young boy named Jack Sawyer who traverses not only our world but a parallel world called the Territories on a quest to save his dying mother. Despite being a childhood favorite of both of your humble hosts, we have yet to tackle this title on The Kingcast. Until now.
