The world over, modern economies demand an effective participation of the banking system which is fully supervised by the country’s central bank. This institution is mandated to carry out a nation's monetary policy and control its money supply, often with a view to maintaining low inflation and steady Gross Domestic Product GDP growth.
This week, South Sudan’s Central Bank experienced some changes in its leadership structure when President Salva Kiir dismissed Dier Tong Ngor, the Bank Governor.
Ngor had only been in office for one year before being fired this week.
Miraya’s Morning Breakfast Show featured Morris Madut, Head of Economics Department at the University of Juba who weighed in on the matter.
