South Sudan drug and food control authority to clamp down on unauthorized importation of drugs

The South Sudan drug and food control authority says it will start clamping down on unauthorized individuals involved in the importation of drugs. 

Secretary General for the authority Mawien Atem Mawien says the decision was reached after a public outcry that the malaria medicine was not effective.

Dr. Mawien says the authority will inspect pharmacies, especially in Juba, and confiscate any malarial drugs brought in from uncertified sources.

Dr. Mawien is further advising people to get malaria treatment from certified health facilities.
