Working forty to fifty hours as a convenience store clerk was the extent of my getting out of the house. It was nothing too taxing, aside from standing all day, which I’d gotten used to. From there, I’d make the half-mile trek back to my cheap apartment, walking past various fast-food establishments that would oftentimes provide my dinner.
