Season 3, Episode 4,   Feb 21, 2022, 02:45 PM

On this week’s ship.energy podcast, Mark Williams is in conversation with Sjoerd de Jager, MD of the port call optimisation software specialist, PortXchange, and Adina Fenton, Business Development Director of the data and analytics company Windward. The focus of the discussion is on how digitalisation is optimising and streamlining port and vessel operations, thereby delivering more transparency in terms of industry processes and stakeholder interaction and supporting the maritime sector in meeting its decarbonisation targets.

Sjoerd de Jager span off PortXchange from the Port of Rotterdam Logistics Incubator into a standalone digital venture in 2019. PortXchange develops software to optimise port calls in ports worldwide leading to more efficiency, lower costs and less emissions.

Sjoerd is an engineer by training with an MSc in Industrial Engineering and Innovation from the Eindhoven University of Technology.

Adina Fenton takes the lead on business development for Windward Decarbonisation Solutions. Before joining Windward in 2017, she worked in commerce and as a trainee lawyer at the Israeli Ministry of Justice. She has a Batchelors and Master’s in Law from the Sorbonne in Paris.

Windward was established in 2010 in Tel Aviv and last year listed on the AIM in the UK. Windward uses Artificial Intelligence and data analytics to model different aspects of risk at sea.
